Wow, fraps works perfectly with Duke3D.  It's by far the easiest way to capture demos with sound, plus you could record levels where you start out with more than the base equipment.   I was able to record 640x480 30 fps no problem.

(edit) Nevermind, it appears you're already doing so.  I guess you're already planning on using a version that gets the sound, too.

Well, I'm using Fraps 1.9 : it doesn't record sound, but it's free. Fraps 2.x.x is shareware. And I have other stuff to buy.  Grin
So I will try to record the sound using a sound recorder.

Can you send me a demo to see if it works on my Duke port ?

Are you going to start using the latest version of JFDuke3D kineox? I noticed on the 3D Realms Forums you said:

These were recorded with JonoF's latest port (20040629), using the 1.3D data files.

When the latest port now was actually released on the 13th of October (http://jonof.edgenetwork.org/index.php?p=jfduke3d).

I'm downloading it and Duke Nuken 3D right now, gonna try my hand at some levels. =)

Hey ! I'm Kineox, not Admiral_Bob...

I used the 20040629 version, with a August (or September ? I can't remember) bug fix to record my first level run, because 20041013 wasn't out !

Of course I will change to the last version... and lost the compatibility with my old demos, I think. The best would be to have all versions installed on the computer  Grin

May you download the 20040629 version on http://www.edgefiles.com/dirs/776.html and try to watch a demo ? Admiral_Bob's demos might work, they are older.

Rightio, sounds good. =)
Hey, while I'm here, I couldn't tell from that avi file of yours, but did you notice that strafe running like in the Doom Done Quick runs will make you run significantly faster?

It's more fun to watch you play Duke 3D than it is to hear you talk about World of Warcraft.   Wink

I have not a lot of time to speedrun, but I managed to record the last demo for the first episode : Toxic Dump, in 1min 50s.

So we have a episode 1 run, on easy skill (piece of cake) in 8 min 16s  Cheesy And we can improve it.

I will record in avi those demos soon.

Hmm, I have re-installed XP and Duke3D, and I found that on my computer I need just two versions of JonoF's : 20040629 and 20041013. I indicate which version must be used.
