Those are some really good ideas I never thought of, Knu! Right now I'm favoring Redguard for adrenaline rush. They start with 40 speed, 50 strength (males), and 50 endurance, and +10 athletics. I'm also considering Argonian for the +10 athletics and 50 speed. They have low health and strength and no significant specials, but they are faster than Redguard. I guess the race should be one of the last choices, after the entire method of the run has been figured out.
Also, I think for the Xarxian part, the fastest method would be to drop any items you'll want after, then give up the rest and just pick them up on your way out. Seems faster than killing anyone, and you don't lose essential stuff.
So far there are some really good ideas. To contribute a tiny bit more, I forgot which town (I think the Leyawinn book shop), I saw a scroll that did 100 fire damage to a group for 3 seconds. That seems like it would be useful for mankakar, or perhaps during the great oblivion gate opening.
Also, I was reading the gamefaqs message board and saw a method for duping. I'm not sure if that would be allowed, but it has the potential to make the run insanely fast with some powerful scrolls.

Dupe glitch info: (from http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=924363&topic=27310850 ) Saw this method posted on the Xbox Oblivion forums here, and decided to see how it worked on the PC version. Here's what you need. A bow, a stack of arrows, and a non-enchanted or named/unique/quest item. Here's what to do. Pull back the shot, and when it's pulled back, go into your menu system. Go to your weapons tab, and click on your equipped arrows twice (You will get the Cannot Change Weapons during Attack message, this is supposed to happen!). Now, drop whatever item you wish to duplicate, and if it can be duplicated, it will be. The amount of duplicated is determined by the stack size of the equipped arrows. In this DivX video: http://www.suki-janai.com/movies/oblivion/obliviondupetrick.avi(or go to http://www.suki-janai.com/movies/oblivion/ if you want to save the file, instead of streaming.). You will see the trick executed on a PC. The game will lag significantly if you clone lots of items at once. I didn't discover this, apparently Grimwrecker did (dunno, but he seems to be getting all the credit). All I did was make a video, showing the actual trick. More information can be found in these threads on the Xbox forums: http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=927345&topic=27301397http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=927345&topic=27294809-flech

The method I described above worked. It doesn't let you break sequences, but still saves more than 40 seconds in the first dungeon alone. How to: when the npcs need to cover some distance, you attack them until they run to kill you. Run to your destination, hold block, and press use on the npc to yield. It worked in 3 locations with the Emperor (saving like 10/20/10 seconds). ------------------ Few tests on running speed: Doesn't depend on strength or encumbrance. Diagonal/backwards - no difference. Sideways definitely slower. (and very hard to steer LOL) Results for a set distance. Speed 100/Athletics 100 - 7.2 seconds. 100/10 - 9.5 50/100 8.5 10/100 - 10.2 100/100 w/ heavy armor EQUIPPED (skill 15) - 8.2 100/100 w/ heavy armor EQUIPPED (skill 100) - 7.3 100/100 w/ weapon drawn - 8.3 More thoughts: probably you don't need any armor at all. Duplicating health potions and binding them to a key works EXTREMELY well. You're almost invincible if you don't forget to drink 'em There's also a problem of damage you deal... I don't think any weapon will work. Well, it will, but slow. We need to get some mega-destructive scrolls and duplicate them. And I mean something that will let you kill all enemies at a single touch while running past them... Yet another idea - if you'll need a different race than redguard (which I doubt), you should choose it first, use the "power" and change it to whatever you like at dungeon exit.

There's a staff in the Imperial City which does 99 damage and has 12 uses. With either the gold or dupe glitch (to get gold), then it should be possible to just use that item the whole game. If it runs out of charges, just join a mages guild and pay the 5000g to have it re-charged. X|
Or, maybe, using a bow with marksman/sneak and a LOT of invisibility scrolls, you can just get the 3x crit bonuses on every shot. Iono. It looks like a lot more options keep opening up ^^
The idea to tick off quest npcs, run to the end of their path, then befriend them again is a great idea, Knu.

The staff weighs too much. If you're going to duplicate, it's better to duplicate 0.1 weight scrolls.

Exactly. We need to find 1 good healing potion to dupe (any off of the starter guys will do), 1 good 'invisibility' scroll that is placed somewhere that's easy to quickly steal, and maybe 1 good damage scroll, also placed in the world. Now, where are some good, easy to grab scrolls that can be taken through the game?
Also, another problem with the staff is that it's a named item, I'm pretty sure it can't be duplicated (but it's still a good staff... X|)

The staff can be duplicated. It was one of the first things I tried.
For healing potion: There's a chest in the very beginning, before you rendezvous with the emperor, that has 2 regular healing potions. Also, Jauffre's chest has 2 healing potions, along with a bow and 30 arrows, and a 20 damage on touch shock scroll (kind of weak).
For a damage scroll, the strongest I've seen is the one that does 100 damage every second to an area and makes you immune to fire for a couple of seconds, but it costs about 9000 gold and would require you to do the gold glitch as well, which just adds more time.
For invisibility scroll, I have no idea.

I may but not until the summer if at all...
One thing I think might help is if someone goes for a segmented run, the first segment should end right before you take the first sigil stone. Then you can keep reloading until you get a nice sigil stone to possibly put on the blades katana which might make a good weapon, in combination with the 20 shock scrolls, that will be duplicated.

Possibly. I'll need to run through it once or twice to see exactly what needs to be done to win the game, and where to 'rush' walking AI.

Ah. Go to Anvil Main Gate before you go to Kvatch. Go and Join mages guild. Sell about 20 healing pots, and buy a pot of Superior Invisibility (45 second invis on self) from the Dark Elf for about 300 gold. You may also want to save at this point, and run up to the 2nd floor and check the scrolls to see if there is anything useful. I saw a Shocking Burst scroll (15 shock damage in 10 ft for 2 seconds) and a Summon Headless Zombie scroll, both of which are very useful. Dupe the Inivisibility pots, get about 60 of em or so, and you can easy breeze through the Kvatch gate. Clear the area around the church, Start the next area, run back in the church and go find Martin, fast travel back to Wanyon(sp). Run to Jauffery, get him to go to the broken chest, talk to Martin and him again, Fast travel to the Cloud retreat. ... More to come later. With inviso pots, the game becomes a breeze!

well they may be needed later on but invis pots are definitley not needed through the first gate and castle.
I cant think of where you would really need it except for critical hits because if you have the duped health potions you can heal as fast as you need.

OK, i found a glitch that helps when you are forced to follow an NPC through multiple load points. First, do what Knu suggested and wail on the NPC until you get him/her to start chasing you. It turns out that when an NPC is leading you somewhere, it has certain waypoints that it goes to and if the NPC is chasing you these waypoints are skipped and as soon as you yeild to the NPC it turns around and goes to the last waypoint that it was at. This bummed me out at first but then I found something pretty cool that you can do because of this. if you make the NPC chase you before its last waypoint before a load screen and have him follow you to the next section, then immediatley yeild to him after the section is loaded and he came through, He will turn around and go back through the load point so that he can reach his last waypoint in order to continue forward. Follow him back there and he will turn around and go right back to the next section, where you had yeiled to him from. However, it seems like they kept incrimenting a variable or something because instead of appearing in this next section he appears in the section AFTER it. I realize my explanation might be hard to follow so I made a video of it, which is uploading and i'll update with the link as soon as it's done I think I'm the first one to discover this glitch. Correct me if i'm wrong though. *edit* here is the DL link http://rapidshare.de/files/17360422/OblivionSpeedTrick.avi.html
