 Commander Keen 3

This game's a lot shorter than others in the series, if you know where to go and how to exploit teleports in the world map Smiley

Exact time: 2 minutes and 17,15 seconds, Single Segment.
Hope you like it Smiley

DOWNLOAD FROM FILEFRONT, 2.12MB
The codec's here, in case anyone needs it.

Just excellent. The Keen series would be a great addition to SDA - if it weren't for the Dosbox issues. There rns are just fantastic.

I had a bit of trouble until I found out that it must be installed.

There's an "install codec" option in the start menu if you download DosBox 0.65.

Anyway, great run. I knew the game was short, but I didn't know it was this short.

I noticed how the unzipped movie file came out to be over 19MB. I wonder what audio codec was used for the file.

I ran the movie file under LAME and the filesize dropped to 3MB.

I especially loved that Mountain Level. At first I wasn't too sure if that shortcut was planned, but that cloud was placed in just the right spot, it must have been an intentional shortcut.

In any case, I havn't played the Commander Keen games (Here, have some stones, I'll be standing over at that wall), they've either been before my time or just never got around to me. But as far as I can tell, it was played quite well.

Well, I finally got around to seeing it. I have only played the first episode of Commander Keen. I was much more into Crystal Caves, Hocus Pocus, etc.

After going to the online store...I think I will soon be getting at least Crystal Caves and Hocus Pocus.

It's a shame that games for Atari could have a speedrun but not these old incredibly great classics for PC. I know the way I did Chamber of Secrets was to output to vcr from the computer. The setup to do that was really odd, but it did work. Even then, there are still the Dosbox issues. Dosbox is almost as universal as winzip when it comes to old dos games.

Can you record at any point or does a game have to be loaded to record?

No problem, IMHO not all the Keen games are worth playing anyway. This game is complete crap compared to 4 I think.

Want to add: libavcodec (ffdshow, CCCP, VLC, MPlayer, etc) supports zmbv, so you don't need to install it if you use any of those.

Actually, it doesn't use any audio compression. It's just a PCM wave.

You obviously have good taste in old Apogee games. Don't forget Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure too!

Was it just me or did VLC not work for anyone else?  I'm running 0.8.5 if it matters...

Great run Sanitars, hope to see more from you. Smiley

I'm hosting all three Keen runs on my site (mentioning who did them of course!) in case FileFront has a bad day/you get a bad download speed from them and good from me/whatever.
I also compressed the audio on the two runs which were as PCM.

The runs won't playback in any video player except The Core for me, even though I have ffdshow... Smiley

I did appreciate this run when I watched it.

Also, I did notice you had a Commander Keen 5 run in your Filefront list at one point, and after seeing it, I have a piece of advice for that which I'll shorten due to time concerns on my end.

As far as the defense tunnels, remember this:  9, 12, 3, 6.  Trust me, it'll be faster than what I saw.
