I was just watching the speedruns for SSSE and I wanted to mention that in Ziggurat, when you get the rocket launcher, there is a Serious Speed to the left (when facing the next destination) that you can pick up to get to the next area faster and shave a few more seconds off.

That should indeed save a little time. Maybe the reason he didn't take this Serious Speed upgrade is because of the Rocket Jumps ahead. But maybe with the Serious Speed upgrade, only 1 Rocket Jump is needed to jump over the entire building part... Grin

I remember that Serious Speed and probably did consider using it at one time... why I didn't, I can't remember now.

On the subject of shortcuts, I know of one in The First Encounter that I deliberately didn't use.  In Level 4, Valley of the Kings, go to the room after the boss fight, right after you get the rocket launcher.  From here, it's possible to rocket jump into the sky and noclip all the way to the very end of the map.  I didn't use it because I was trying to draw a line somewhere that would keep the runs from becoming boring to watch, though that line became more and more blurred as I opted to run entirely outside of some levels like Karnak, Metropolis, and so on...

Feel free to use it if it's allowed; I honestly had a hard time deciding what should and shouldn't be allowed with this game, since the levels can be broken in so many (different) ways.

That one is definitely Out of Bounds because you're just floating through nothingness Smiley So that one wouldn't be allowed for SDA.
In Metropolis, there you just walk on the side of the level a bit, that's not OoB because you're basically still walking on a solid level part. Same for Karnak.
Most levels are 1 big place, so if you can get over a wall, you're still in the level. But Valley of the Kings is different because it's mainly made up of rooms (The same with Hatshepsut/Sand Canyon/Tomb of Ramses/Oasis and Sewers).
The other levels basically consist of 1 big room/level, no problem getting over walls in those levels since you will still be IN the level Wink
