Sorry about the delays. My girlfriend bought me the new Bioware RPG
Dragon Age, and it's consumed me. The run won't be finished by Thanksgiving, and I'm not even sure it will be done by the end of this year. Sorry. I suggest buying Dragon Age to pass the time. It's had me sneaking out of bed for the past week to get more play time in.
Damn. I'm pretty sure loading a save cancels all characters' orders, but apparently Yoshimo's script must be immediately telling him to come talk to you again. Instead, if you leave the sword room, re-enter it, then load the autosave upon re-entry and hammer the rest hotkey as it loads, would you be able to rest (by getting the command in before the game orders Yoshimo to talk to you)?
This seemed to work in testing.
P.S. am I right in thinking that it's impossible to DAD someone who's in one of the various buildings around Suldanesslar when you enter the temple? So you can't, for instance, leave getting the Talisman until after getting the sword, then send Yoshimo for it while Smilge heads for the temple, and DAD him back into the party as Smilge enters the temple?
As far as I'm aware that is correct. The area unloads faster than a character can make a transition into a new area. I'm not sure why Imoen rejoins the party, since she is in an area that I would think would unload (the forest clearing with the dragon). I tested a few buildings, including the talisman one, and I wasn't able to get anyone to rejoin from there.
