Cash bounties for speedruns

SDA itself does not give out cash for speedruns; these bounties are all offered by individual members.


To be eligible for a bounty, a runner has to get in contact with (PM or otherwise) the person offering it, definitely before submitting the run to SDA and preferably before even starting work on the speedrun.

Here are the three I'd be willing to offer.  In the first two cases I don't know if the video would actually be accepted onto SDA:

$50 for the best Zelda Twilight Princess Cave of Ordeals run.  Discussion of that is already in the Newer Consoles forum.

$10 per level or SS run if anyone improves any of SDA's katamari videos, and/or $10 if anyone speedruns WLK's Fireflies stage.  That stage has a timer and is not on SDA, and my best at it is literally 40 seconds slower than the best known time so it wouldn't make sense for me to speedrun it.  edit: $20 for a good Kintaro Bear run in Make Ursa Major; my cow video is lonely  edit: maximum $100.

To recieve a bounty for katamari from me your video(s) would have to actually make it onto SDA first.

I think in the first two cases I'd also Paypal $20 to anyone who creates a GOOD run but is beaten by someone else.

When offering cash do honesty problems ever come up?  Like do people ever claim other people's work to be their own?

Are there any SDA-ers willing to try to verify whether a specific video was actually run by the person that claimed it?

That's why the bounty collectors have to turn in the original files (vhs, dvd, demos, etc)

Think this is a cool Idea as in some cases it pushes people to try really hard runs.

I guess it would be a good way to get more people to try just a bit harder and maybe raise the bar on SDA gameplay a few notches. It could also pose new problems, it's not fun to upload ~80GB of Fraps footage if the only way to prove you did the run is to provide the lossless footage, for example.

Unless it was my job I would never take or give money for doing a run.

$75 to anyone that gets 12 hits on Death egg in sonic 2 before he leaves the ground (i.e. watch my vid, I can only get 11). Make sure that the time is :44 or below as well when the screen fades.

$125 to anyone who beats my sonic 2 single segment by more then 15 seconds.

I don't think any of us speedrunners would complain. A little money never hurts, and is definately better motivation to make awesome runs, which is what the site is about.

Could you compile a list of all the bounties that are confirmed at the top of the thread, labeled by the name of the person who is offering it?
