Hi,

I am toying with the idea to do a Commandos II as my very first speedrun.
So I wanted to ask what conditions you would like to see?
With/without bonus book for example.
And how would a mission with savings be timed? Time penalty?

Thanks for your answers.

Kind regards
Christian

Christian,
Any manual save incurs a 0.5 second penalty on SDA at present. Of course, you could always do a Single Segment run which is a seperate category.

As for conditions, you can either do an any% run (that is, a 'pure speed' run) or a 100% run. It's been some time since I played any of the Commandos games, but it sounds like a 100% run would consist of getting all the bonus books, doing all the bonus missions, and completing any secondary objectives (if there are secondary objectives, I can't remember). The choice of difficulty is up to you (different difficulties are different categories).

There is already an any% speedrun on normal difficulty done by ProtoMonkey, and you can find the link to it in this thread. While this run was never submitted to SDA, naturally you should be aiming to create a run of equal or better quality than ProtoMonkey's - which from what I've seen is already very good.

Good luck with the run.

Really try to equal if not beat these times as i feel that a speedrun here SHOULD be a world record.
Try and use their strategies combined with your own. Wink
PS:Sorry for my fail at the english language.

A speedrun does not have to be a world record.  It's nice if it is, but it's not a requirement.  Since there are videos though, watching and using some strategies from them might be worthwhile.

I said that's what -I- feel.
Anyway if i get to the job of verifying i won't accept a run that's at least close to these runs but that's just me.

I agree with Fyourics. What's the point in creating a run inferior to one that already exists?
