This is a thread I created for the people interested in running Oblivion for the bounty I put up. Here you can ask questions, help each other and post progress vids.  Here are the specifics of the Oblivion bounty:

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion All Quests+ - $300-$600

Requirements:
- Complete the Main Quest.
- Complete ALL Miscellaneous quests INCLUDING Ninroot.
- Becoming a Vampire is NOT necessary.
- Join and become Guildmaster in the Fighters, Thieves, Mages Guilds, along with the Dark Brotherhood.
- Beat the Arena
- NO DUPE GLITCH ALLOWED!
- NO HAWKHAVEN, NO CONSOLE ALLOWED!
- $300 if done on Normal, $400 if done on Hard, $500 if done on Very Hard.
- No Time or Segment Limit!
- XBOX360 acceptable as long as it is up to date.
- JUST ADDED! Don't forget the Master Trainers!

+$100 If...
- Shivering Isles is completed including misc. quests.
- Knights of the Nine is completed

The first person to accomplish this wins the bounty, which will then be removed. This must be done on either the patched Vanilla version of Oblivion or the patched version of Shivering Isles should that be run as well.

Good luck!

I love this game, best in the series easily, and I don't usually like RPG medieval click-'em-up style games.

Oh don't think I know it will be long as hell, but it can be done. A couple people were interested in running it, so we'll see what happens.

Ok, I thought about it for a while last night and started this run. I plan to stay low level, and not kill anything unless I have to, relying on summoning and stealth for most of it.

I'm just under two hours in, and actually decided to take care of seeking your roots ie collecting 100 nirnroots first...
Not what I had planned on, but since its hardest difficulty, I figure I wont get very far on most quests without leveling up my spells, and I may as well do something while I'm casting starlight and bound dagger on myself over and over again. Also, if I can make it through the tedious task of finding 100 of these, I might just finish this run somehow.

I'm recording it with FRAPS, at 320x240, and compressing to xvid. I cant seem to compress the audio in virtualdub without it desyncing, so I guess I'll just convert it to a lower bitrate or whatever.

I'll post the first 10 or so minutes on youtube since 10 mins is the limit, and see if its acceptable quality before moving on in the run.

Edit: Ok, forget youtube, I forgot it uses its own codec. Here's a link to the first segment, the tutorial.
http://files.filefront.com/tutorial+youtubeavi/;8465455;/fileinfo.html
As I type this its sitll processing, but eventually let me know if it isnt acceptable quality

Edit 2: I've decided to consider the 2 hours I recorded last night as a trial run. Biggest reason is speed and planning, I want to be High Elf with Apprentice for more Magicka.  I also want to disable the official plugins like Frostcrag Spire for consistency. I dont plan on using them at all and dont consider them part of vanilla Oblivion. If I want I can add them later.

SO, before I start again, I'd like to know if 640x480 is good enough resolution to record with, or if I should go higher? At first I was concerned about size, but even at 320x240 its going to be monstrous, so it may as well look decent.

In order to accept the run on SDA, you have to have High Quality - 640x480x30fps. I don't think you should go on with higher resolution.

I am pleased to hear you are running it on the hardest difficulty. A real task indeed. Also, you might want to try Google Video, as it has no length limits.

As for the video itself, I would be fine with 640 by 480, we have to at least see your stats and what is going on as well as your inventory easily, in that it won't be too blurry from compression. Remember, this run will not be accepted on SDA due to its ridiculous length, but that doesn't mean that I and the Oblivion community won't greatly appreciate it. And don't worry about file size. Yes I would encourage compressing as much as possible, but I don't mind downloading large file sizes.

and what about this run's contents? someone could just make a longplay through all quests, not a speedrun... though on hardest it already is pretty cool...
i just imageine someone trying to make really impressive run, retrying, thinking of strats... and then some lazy bastard makes all quests without trying to make it interesting, and puts a playthrough... so the first guy is really bummed =(

Personally, I'd rather see a really good speedrun than 100%, which would be boring to watch (nirnroots).

Pweisger also needs to approve\accept it if the run is of good quality (Considering the money amount Wink), so the first guy doesn't necessarily has to be bummed right away.

Maybe list in the first post who wants to take on this project\is actively working on this along with progress or other kind of information? Or something.

Guys, I created this thread just for that. So people running it can bump ideas off one another. I should add, that if two people are running it, and one guy is going faster than the other, the faster run would be accepted (of course, routes could be different so it might be tough telling who is farther along) and thus the reason for posting progress, so we can see how fast and effective people are doing things.

As for quality, I have looked at oldblivion and believe it could be acceptable, the only problem is it doesnt work for the newest patch, which I believe I asked for (I think it's 1.2 or the Shivering Isles one).  Again, if you could post even the tutorial part of the mission I can look at everything and we can judge from there, so we know what is acceptable before you get too deep into the run.
