The speed of sound is defined by the distance from door to computer divided by the time interval needed to close the media player and pull up your pants when your mom shouts "OMG WHAT ARE YOU DOING!"

Nice run. I'm uploading the practise Blackout run now (to youtube, seeing as its not the final). Will edit in a link here when uploaded.
EDIT: Here we go: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=mCg8TjEJqC8

I've done one better run already - 6:49. I want to really try and hit the 6:30 mark though... then i can move onto other levels!

EDIT2: in other news, i just did the final level, Game Over, in 7:30 exactly. The whole thing is timed/scripted anyway (AFAIK), so speedrunning this level is pretty pointless...

6:49 seems like a good time for Blackout. I still haven't tried the mission but from your video it just seems that you need to kill enemies really fast to get a good time. And yeah, Game over is pretty much scripted so there's not much to be done there.

Just for the lulz, i tried doing it (Blackout) in Ragtime Warfare mode:
http://files.filefront.com/cod4+blackoutspeedrun+rageavi/;9814290;/fileinfo.html
I expect that this doesn't count though, even though it is much faster Tongue

On a more serious note, i've been trying the One Shot, One Kill level. Damn its a pain in the butt. You can skip quite a few gunfights though...

Hahaha, that was awesome :D.

The console guys managed to do One shot, One kill in 9:38, so if you are trying it, you should try to get a better time than that. I will be trying it also today so we will be able to discuss our tactics.

9:38 eh? Sounds good. I'm actually away from my PC until sunday, but can mess around on a laptop i have access to for the time being. Low GFX, but it should work.
I know that after that guy (who's name evades me) get injured and you have to carry him, you're able to walk past alot of guards - one group even ignores you. Of course, i haven't seen the console videos (yet), so you may already know this. I'll watch them tonight.

Okey this is just a fucking joke. I did the One shot, One kill perfectly without any mistakes and still the best time I could get was over 11 minutes. I just thought I'd try the mission on recruit difficulty and well well well, instantly 10 minute run with alot of mistakes. So what we can notice from this is that the sniping session at the end is longer at regular difficulty. The guys at the console section are running the game at recruit so that's why they got such a good time. Sucks. Big time.

lol, that sucks! There's gotta be a way to get the chopper down quicker... what about not sniping at all? Running to the building where most of them come from and taking them out with a quick burst to the face with an AK47 or something... I'll try it. A few (lucky?) well placed 'nades should take care of the chopper troops that arrive.
(of course, this is if the amount of enemies affects the chopper arrival time...)

I redid some missions today and I was able to shave more time off them than I thought. So here's some of the new times:

The Bog 5:20
Hunted 6:53
All Ghillied Up 7:06
No Fighting in the war room 5:29

The Bog is done in a single segment but the other ones are done in three. It's really impossible to get these times in single segment. For example I did one section in All Ghillied Up for 4 hours until I got it perfectly right. I will be able to get it under 7 minutes if I have the resistance to use a possible 4 hours doing that one part again.

As for the One shot, One kill mission, it doesn't seem to affect the ending scene if you shoot the enemies faster. I think the harder the difficulty is, the longer you have to withstand the enemies. Sucks but we just have to live with it.

Yeah i had a mess around earlier and One Shot, One Kill seems like that.

Nice job with the time improvements. I am sick and tired of Blackout, so i've moved onto One Shot, One kill for now. I will try and get a perfect Blackout run tomorrow. (6:30 maybe?)

I hope you find something useful in the One shot, One kill mission. I tried it yesterday and couldn't just find anything that could speed it up. I propose we do the mission in Recruit and never tell anyone about it! :D

I somehow just managed to get just over 11 minutes too - but I made a few mistakes! I seem to be having a bad run of luck now though, as i keep dying in that building with the 2 dogs & 2 russians - i can get through it with an AK or RPD, but anything else (which i usually pick up just after the first sniping session) is useless! I will upload that video just so you can see my route and hopefully point out improvements.
Will edit post when uploaded.

EDIT: here we go

One thing, don't use the arcade mode. I pretty much believe it doesn't fuction the same way as the normal mission selection. But your route is what it should be. There's not much other options in that mission Smiley. Only thing that kinda could be improved is the time used in the building with 2 dogs and 2 gunmen but as you said, it's pretty easy to die there.

OK, I won't use that arcade mode in the future - it's actually more of a pain to use it as you have to quit the game, then select arcade mode, the mode, level and difficulty instead of simply restarting it through the in-game menu...

The problem with that place is that i cannot work out a pattern to the guards locations - the dogs are pretty easy to work out (surround sound + barking) but until i'm recieving a lead-present in the back of my head i don't know where the humans are Sad

Yeah the position of the enemies in the building is random. I'm going to finish the run today and after that I will, maybe for a week, try to achieve better times. After that I will submit the run. I just don't see much to improve here anymore.

I have no idea how the console guys are calculating the Game over mission time since the whole mission is scripted and they have 4:11 as a time. I do it and I get 7:28. I don't know if they decided to not include the last three minutes of the mission.

My final time is now 1h 49min 13sec. I have no idea how the correct time will be calculated. As you see from the example below, I'm not sure which time to use here. I guess it will be determined by the reviewers. I will be submitting the run within the next couple weeks.

EDIT: Some new times:

The sins of the Father: 5:49
Epilogue (Mile High Club): 0:53
All Ghillied Up: 6:57
