I agree. Let's see it.

I'm still running Perseus Mandate, but the AI is proving to be a major pain in the ass in my quest for a near perfect interval 1.

groobo, I'm starting to appreciate what you must have gone through to get your runs done...

I tried the ladder glitch and the damage/object boost glitch in the first few intervals and didn't find anything.

Really? Perseus Mandate is based on Extraction Point, so I would think if they work in PM, they would work in EP. Not that either trick has proved to be useful so far; I've stuck my head through the ceiling a few times, but so far I haven't actually gotten OOB.

The problem is there's really no where to USE them.  :-/

Oh, that makes more sense. Me neither. Still, there's a few places I have yet to check that I'm hopeful about.

edit: Ok, I've actually gotten out of bounds with the ladder trick. It's on 5-1 Relic, and lets me get right to the two power armors towards the end of the level. If I can get it to work first try, it will save around 20 seconds.

I'll experiment with it some more, but I think that's as much as I'll be able to do there. On to Interval 6 and 7...

To everybody who has said, the FEAR sergeant in Perseus Mandate is just a carbon copy of the FEAR pointman, I say this:

Can the pointman fly?

http://files.filefront.com/defyinggravityavi/;9929644;/fileinfo.html

I have no idea what caused this, if it can be replicated, and if it will ever be useful for a speedrun.... but it just goes to show you how broken this engine is.

I assume you were trying to do the ladder glitch when that happened?

I didn't come to battle. I just came to be a part of it.

Yeah, although I never got it to work there. It's still pretty random, but I can do it within a few tries everywhere else; there, I was trying for something like 10-15 minutes until I started levitating. Something to do with the low ceiling I think (that's also why I was trying so hard to make it work).

I have some very good news! I've managed another sequence break, and a big one too!

The cargo elevator shaft in 7-2 was the first thing I thought of when I decided to begin running Perseus Mandate; if only you could get down there. Although the top level is still protected by kill triggers, a jump from the middle level to the bottom is possible, if you can negate the fall damage. I've figured out a way to do just that.

Groobo got me thinking; if you can jump off objects in mid air, what about falling on them? Turns out the engine treats objects like barrels the same as the level geometry itself; you take damage from falling on them, can jump off them, etc. This makes it possible to fall on a barrel continually, taking no damage for a series of short falls over the course of a long one. Essentially, I ride the barrel down to the bottom of the level. This skips a good chunk of the level, saving something in the order of 1:45.

I was originally aiming for this run to be sub 1:15:00, but now 1:10:00 seems to be within reach....

Nice finds on the sequence breaks. I'm thinking of doing a run for Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate, the Nightcrawler Elites will make the runs really annoying though.
