One question, though: After getting a microphone (still need to do this), do I need any special program to record with?

I use for audio ripping this Program, this Program can Record the Stream
of your Microphone and many more.
(This program make capture audio in good quality)

License = Freeware

Original Text from "http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/"->

Audiograbber is a beautiful piece of software that grabs digital audio from cd's. It copies the audio digitally-not through the soundcard-which enables you to make perfect copies of the originals. It can even perform a test to see that the copies really are perfect. Audiograbber can also automatically normalize the music, delete silence from the start and/or end of tracks, and send them to a variety or external MP3 encoders, such as Fraunhofers L3enc, or even use some MP3/WMA encoders internally for automatic creation of MP3's. Audiograbber can download and upload disc info from freedb, an Internet compact disc database. You can even record your vinyl LP's or cassette tapes with Audiograbber and make wav's or MP3's of them. There are a lot more functions in Audiograbber, but to put it simply: Audiograbber has the most features one can wish from such a program!

I've had success with Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) in the past. It's free and you can set up multiple tracks, which would help if you needed to mix together different takes on the commentary or something. It's a lot better than Windows Sound Recorder anyway.

I really want to do audio commentary for my first run, but I don't speak english frequently... Yeah, I'm french, and my accent is terrible. Anyway it would be fun... Also, since my run is single-segment, maybe I will do single-segment commentaries Grin

I was thinking. Wouldn't it be nice to see if a run has commentary on the game list page or the games page next to where it says the time and who the runner is?

Maybe if we have enough runs with Audio Commentary I would actually see this. Just a thought.

Depends on your player.  Look around for something that says "audio".

Just another mention to the GTA:SA run with commentary.  Extremely enjoyable.

You can safely put him as clean as well, at least I can't recall any swearing.

I just listened to stanski's.  Not a bad effort, though I would suggest trying to talk a bit less like AVGN.  Swearing and "worst ever" 's are more effective when you save them for the moments that truly deserve it.

Also, I'm thinking about recording one for my Valkyrie Profile B Ending run.  Could I just rant about whatever during storyline sections?  It would actually be kinda planned and not crazy or dumb or anything (i.e. nothing like my SDA posts).

Thats how i sound in real life :-(

Stanski did his awhile back, and it's my favorite commentary on sda right now by miles...dunno how he sounds like AVGN.  His commentary is him saying what he was thinking and how pissed he was when bs / shit happened...which I would think is a much better commentary than someone writing a careful essay and worrying about how they sound.  Better commentaries are ones where the runner just straight up says what he thought

When you start giving a shit what people think or actually care how they might react is when your commentary starts sucking balls IMO
