And it also has -3 werewolf/feral rage/lycanthropy/fissure/whatever.

LeWoVoc: You made me curious about your leveling method.

Just offering my cheers for aiming to bang out a Druid run...should be glorious to behold once all gets figured out.   Even moreso if the upcoming patch shows the Druid some much needed love...

Always nice to see a game skillfully ripped apart by an enthusiastic runner.

http://www.roguetemple.com/forums/index.php?topic=395.0  finally taking my shot.

I've always used Civerb's Cudgel (which I'm planning to use for barb run) and Sigon's combo when I go through Normal with windy druid twinked. Perhaps you can melee with that weapon (while still doing AoE damage with poison potions) until Tornado comes handy (you might need to get some AR from rings or something).

Edit:
Forget it. Its required level is 9 and Fissure comes at 12, it's useless Lips sealed

Basically, you would need to power level with shrines until 6 and then roll a nice +Firestorm or +Molten Boulder pelt in order to have any decent killing power early on.  Relying on melee that early with a non-melee build is pretty silly, honestly.

Yeah, come to think of it, I don't know why I always did melee in the early part and didn't thought about pelts. Perhaps I didn't want to mix up fire skills when I'm building windy.

Anyway, I'm also interested in your leveling plan, LeWoVoc.

I think I have underestimated the possibillities of survival in hell for the windy druid. with high levels of cyclone armor, twister, tornado and hurricane, the cyclone armor will easily absorb 1k of elemental damage or more, which will be insanely helpful. But it will need a lot of recasts though.

Isn't the fire tree powerful enough in hell? Just using fissure/volcano doesn't sound like it'd be too bad if you can manipulate some +skills. Volcano does physical damage too so that kinda takes care of immunes (at least more easily than most single-element characters).

Volcano is terribly underpowered to handle FI mobs, leaving your only good skills totally useless in Hell.  Also, the damage peters off quickly compared to a wind build, so you would lose time even on groups that you can kill.  It's better to get a good damage phys/cold combo build than a medium damage fire build.

Fissure is essentially blizzard with half the damage. I'll do some testing when I get home, but I'm quite skeptical.

At players1 that's not too much of a problem... I just see the windy having way too much of a hard time aiming tornadoes effectively/quickly and losing a hell of a lot of time leveling up to a reasonable level (build won't go fast until level 30).

Actually, it's level 18 where the Druid begins to pick up speed.  Yeah, 30 grants you the ultimate fire and forget skill, but Twister does a great job of doling out damage to large and small mobs.

Is anyone making progress on the any%, or are we waiting for the patch that will never come?

Yeah, I'm working on it... definitely. It's somewhat slow going at the moment, though.

Well, I guess I was just surprised by how efficient fissure was in the first run I saw and I remember playing a windy and being very slow until I got hurricane (not that hurricane kills so hard by itself, but the combination starts to pick up some speed)

Well, it's done!
I'll get on some commentary tomorrow night probably... I'm extremely pleased with the result here, and despite a few mistakes, I think I have a really crisp run here.
