Although I do appreciate the offer, I kind of want to keep the whole thing under wraps for now.

I think I know what "trick" you're talking about, since it's the only improvement that could shave up so much time from your previous run (unless you made several improvements...) I already used it very much and very consciously and it's the biggest time-saver of all in my run (compared to bimanc's and other runs).
However, I would'nt consider this to be a "trick" but rather basic game mechanics... and everybody who tries to do a speedrun of any game should really know about the basics of that game before trying it, shouldn't they?
I already wondered, why nobody came up with this big time improvement that I made in my run because I would consider this to be pretty basic, at least for a non-casual-d2-gamer...

It's about getting xp as fast as possible isn't it? Or am I totally on the wrong track here and it's a druid specific thing??? I explain this improvement in detail in my commentary to the run which you will be able to read if the run is through verification and posted here. However if you guys are interested I can give you some extracts of it here or in my run-thread before the run is on the side.

Oh, I just reread your post, where you announced your little secret... ^^
"I have a much more efficient leveling strat, but I'm keeping that to myself until I release my Any%."
So it IS about leveling after all. Then i may as well just explain it over in my thread, because not telling other players, who are interested in it is just not very nice from you (egoistic imho). So everybody who is interested in it is welcome to read it over in the assasins-topic.

Personally I'd always share information about a speedrun, but he probably just doesn't want anyone beating him at his own game before he finishes a run. He did say his strength was in the strategy, not the gameplay (I think it was this guy, maybe it was the necromancer thread).

Maybe your grandiose vocabulary is a pathetic compensation for an insufficiency in the nether regions of your anatomy.

@Frag: Oh, it's most certainly leveling.
I used your run a ton for a new perspective on a few things. However, there are a few more strats that are used here and there.

I was supposed to unveil my little trick with a video a while ago, but I keep screwing up the videos and redoing the run  Roll Eyes

OK, if it's not just the improved leveling-techniques that I used, I'm still excited about what new you'll show us. Hope you can finish the videos soon. My guess is, that it's something in connection with the poison-potions, as there is still much yet unused potential for them and my usage was just one of many possibilities... Wink
Or it's the boss-leveling in connection with heavy wp-hopping, which I didn't used to the full in my run yet (could be exploited much more if you find a map with many good wp/boss-connections) and it would be definitely something that could cut out even more time of any d2-speedrun. I even think that sub-50-minutes with a sorc is feasible with all those strats combined and VERY much manipulation mostly in the leveling parts...

Just posting a bit of an update to show that I'm still alive and running.

Did a lot of manipulation on a few segments in Act IV, including a 50 second Izzy segment, and getting Diablo to walk around a lot more than usual. Act III had some nice improvements as well, although I made a mistake calculating experience. Despite that error, I'm still 1:06 ahead of the old run, and I expect to shave off quite a bit of time off of Baal.

sounds like keeping the wrong segment was a blessing in disguise.

I've reached an annoyance...

For some reason, the game freezes upon entering Act V 100% of the time. With or without FRAPS, with or without a fresh reinstall, etc. It hasn't happened on any of the previous runs, and it's getting extremely frustrating (as I have to restart the computer each time)... anyone have any ideas? I may have to continue the run on a different computer, which I don't have at the moment...

Is your D2 No-CD patched? If it isn't, the LoD disc might be damaged so it freezes on disc reading.

Ah. That would make sense, I guess. I'll make an attempt to remedy the situation tomorrow.

Thanks.
