Haha, are you sure it wasn't 13:36 but you just had to be leet?

Actually, I was using the online stopwatch, and when I brought it up after the final hit it was just turning over to 13:38, but I figured that the extra times( also did this at the beginning) I spent bringing up the page was around 1 second. I was running the emulator fullscreen, next time I'll have it smaller so I can see the timer in the background. Believe me, this time is not that leet.

Also, about the sub-12:30, I don't know for sure, that number may be completely off base. All I know is my levels were a bit too conservative , and all of my boss fights could be improved by at least 2 seconds each (and probably more).

I'd recommend watching the TAS, there are some good strats for a normal run (5-2 has a really easy but helpful skip that saves 5 seconds)

reg, I wasn't questioning your timing at all, it was just a lame joke. On the internet: 1337 = leet Tongue

Yet another updated time:

holydiver42 - 16:16 - Stage 5

I think 5-2 is going to be the end of me.  It makes Stage 3 look like nothing at all.

Is anyone able to get predictable behavior out of the bosses?  They seem to behave randomly (either on a global timer or pseudorandom), so it's hard to optimize those fights.  For instance, which way the real/fake level 2 boss goes when he splits.  Or which side the level 3 boss sets down on the first time through.

What are the rules for health/chip refills at the end of the stage?  Does it add a fixed amount, refill you to a fixed level, or give refill proportional to how much you already have?

From the few times I played, I believe it adds a fixed amount.

Can anyone explain the ladder jumping and converyor belt glitches? I saw them in the TAS, but I have absolutely no idea how to perform them >.> also, lol I never used that triple shot thing, but it looks awesome in TAS ^^

Elpis: I haven't done it myself, but you can download the input file and watch it in the emulator with "watch input" (usually toggled with comma IIRC).

I'm just going to apply 5/6 rule to Elpis and other PAL players from now on, even though it doesn't work perfectly of course. But this is a casual tourney so why not. Just submit as normal, marking PAL.

Should have some time for myself to get an ALL tonight.

I kind of wish I knew myself.  Maybe I'll look into the input file Enhasa mentioned.  But if you get to it anytime soon, would you mind sharing?

As for the 3-way attack, I use it more than any other special.  Primarily on the second half of the 3rd boss, entirely against the 4th boss, and a couple times in 5-2 against the ball spitting guys that hang onto the handholds.

Speaking of 5-2...  it's now the stage with my most tragic failures.  For some reason, that section with the two KlapTraps & a Hand Thrower near the top is getting the best of me.  In my two best runs, I've lost twenty+ seconds in each run at that spot.  It's not even that difficult!   Undecided

Update:

This will probably be my final update, as I finally beat the game!  For the first time, too.

holydiver42 - 23:06 - ALL

5-2 wasn't quite as difficult as I'd previously thought.  It just takes patience.  I almost screwed myself on the last boss.  Missed with a couple of Quantum Bombs, but I had just enough energy to finish him off.

Here's what i can infer from playing the TAS in slow mo:

To zip along a conveyor belt you hold Left + Right + Down + Jump just as you hit the ground -- you do this over and over, doing a really small jump each time (holding right during the small jump).  Seems to work the same way whether the conveyor is going with or against you.  Not really do-able outside of TAS (requires Left+Right).

The ladder zip is kind of confusing.  It's something like jumping and pressing away from the ladder, then releaing the d-pad on the very next frame.  Somehow it manages to cause you to jump from the ladder rather than just dropping.  I'm not sure how it works, and it's hard for me to reproduce even with frame-advance, but i'd venture that this is not a usable strategy outside of TAS either.

new time

reg-13:18 all

fcm movie

adequate but still overly conservative runs of the first 4 stages, then this whole thing just implodes at 5-2. One mistake alone was almost 18 seconds, so I'll definitely be shooting for sub-13.

I'm actually very disappointed about this. I literally had a 7:28 going into Stage 5. The stupid part with the two chomper dudes (you know those blue things that are basically only a mouth) near the top of 5-2 really screwed me over a LOT. I'm just getting tired of making attempts for tonight and figured I'd go ahead and take that one all the way just so I'd have a time to post.
