It doesn't matter how good you are with the bike. It's still going to be slower than the Vigilante glitch or the Hunter. Plus, although you may be able to save your bike using the method described, you're not going to be able to save yourself. You can die REALLY quickly from their AK drive bys on the later levels, thus leading to having to restock on body armor often, which would just end up looking terrible.

Still, the Vigilante glitch is rather random; sometimes a few of the enemies survive and you have to waste time hunting them down - more often towards the end. Getting all golds in flight school (even if it's not required to do so) may end up the fastest way of doing things after all. You also end up saving time on the school itself, since you're completing the courses faster.

For the same reason it's also advisable to go as fast as you can on the other schools, instead of "only getting bronze on each". Of course, this doesn't mean you should get all golds on all courses - the randomness of some of the courses in driving school make it not worth it.

Dude.

If you were going as fast as you should be in a speedrun, going slow enough so you have to snipe the other racers is out of the question. Because beating them outright is faster than doing what you said.

That is in case of screwing up, sniping in the pc version is really quick. Of couse winning the race out right is the fastest and best strategy.

I can forsee many headaches ahead. The worst of it is if I do in fact get the hunter using that thing is a bitch and I would have to practice a whole helluva lot with it. I could grab the tank and use that. IMO, that may be the fastest way, but I will go ahead and practice with all of them and see which is faster.

If you're able to control the Hunter well (and it's really easy to use effectively, too), Vigilante will go much faster with it than with a Rhino, in my opinion. Still, I'd say forget the Vigilante glitch entirely, since it's very unreliable and you will probably end up waiting longer than if you'd used a Hunter in the first place.

The only real advantage of using the Rhino in Vigilante is its bulletproof quality. Nothing else. It's also very slow, and in some cases it may be next to impossible (if not, impossible) to catch up to the suspects.

I dont think the rocket boost you could use in the previous GTA's will work here (facing the cannon behind you and firing to boost yourself). More than likely I will just have to get Gold on all the pilot missions (pain in the ass #1), and then learn how to effectively fly the damn hunter (pain in the ass #2). Thank god I don't have to worry about this stuff until later in the run.

They do, but cannon turns too slowly.

Go with hunter, its of course best if you are professional flyer.

Flying is a lot easier with a PS2 controler so go to Radioshack and buy a Playstation to UBS converter.  I have found except for sniping using the controler is a lot easier for everything.

I have my own controller, which I use for emulation gaming, though I find it easier to control San Andreas with a mouse/keyboard. I just finished a huge project, so now I have time to start running this, probably starting next week.

On the topic of using the Hunter for Vigilante missions, I'm another huge supporter of it; but for a different reason.

I've got the PS2 version, so I don't know if this little glitch was fixed for the PC version, but when I did it with the Hunter in Las Venturas, EVERY criminal ended up in the airport.  They'd simply circle around on the airfield, making for extremely easy targets.  Furthermore, I was able to rock out all of the levels very quickly because I didn't really have to fly out anywhere, since they all spawned underneath me.

I don't believe there was anything that was really required of you to do it, except for starting the Vigilante missions inside the Hunter in LV.  Maybe starting the missions while over or near the LV airport may help.  I do knid of remember the first few being in the streets, but they eventually all went into the airport.

Just something to look in to.
