E3M6 the Long Way

Hellou speedrunner folks! This time we have a contest on an id map, no special editions, no fancy new maps, but something different! E3M6 the Long Way - watch the demo to see what route we are going to run this time (the genocide is not allowed in your demos, only in this demonstration). The Easy Run is - surprise surprise - for KEYBOARD bunniers. So don't submit demos recorded with mouse on the easy skill. Wait, no mouse at all? Of course there is, the Nightmare Run is for those who like using the mouse. Remember, you cannot use the candle hopping shortcut or skillful ogre grenade jumps to gain faster access to the rune or the key - that wouldn't be the intended route anymore.

  1. This contest will end in ten days, 23:59:59 CET, Thursday February 26th 2009.
  2. Send your demos to our contest email address.
  3. Name the demos and eventual textfiles in the format e3m6_er/nr_player.dem/txt. Someone named Grzegorz may send in e3m6_er_grzegorz.dem and e3m6_er_grzegorz.txt, for example.
  4. Good luck and happy running!

11 demos arrived to the inbox, rather low amount to be honest. Jaakko Alakopsa was the fastest in both categories. Flavio used different cl_yawspeeds to make better bunnies in the Easy Run but that was not enough to get the first place. It was clear that taking the ring would help slaloming around monsters in the Nightmare Run. Less randomness, more fun. Comments about the keyboard run were positive so it may be contested again in the future.

Nice demos everyone. Enjoy.
