Dimension of the Gibbed
Welcome to sixth part of a seven part contest that'll send your bodyparts flying! The idea is to gib your way through the whole of Episode One - Dimension Of The Doomed in the fastest possible time. The finishing stats from the winner of the previous contest will be used as the starting stats of the current contest, the finishing stats from the winner of the current contest will be used as the starting stats for the next contest, and so on. All the winning entries (and some bits of the other entries) are even now being recammed and joined together to form one big QdQ style production which should be released in time for the winter solstice.
Contest 6 : Gib Keep
The rules of this contest are simple...
- You must complete e1m5 on Easy Skill getting 18/18 kills.
- Every kill must be a gibbed kill. If you don't understand what that means then check out this demo and all will become clear.
- The winner will be the person that exits in the fastest time.
- *SPECIAL RULE* There are no special rules to this contest. ;-)
- Secrets are entirely optional : you can use as many or as few as you like.
- All demos should be e-mailed to Nolan ONLY!
- Please name your demos e1m5_gib_yourname.dem, any accompanying text file should be named e1m5_gib_yourname.txt and it should all be dzipped up into e1m5_gib_yourname.dz.
- You MUST start your run with the following statistics: 100 Health, 0 Armour, 67 Shells, 141 Nails, 5 Rockets, 0 Cells, the shotgun, the super-shotgun, the nailgun, the super-nailgun, the grenade launcher and the rocket launcher. These can be set using QdQstats (which hopefully you're all using anyway), but if you don't know how to do it then this should help.
- If you have any questions send them to sda@planetquake.com, ask in #qdq on Quakenet or post your question on the Message Board.
The closing date for this contest is Midnight CET Wednesday 27th November 2002. The results and the details of the fourth part of the contest will be posted (hopefully) on Thursday 28th November. Only a week and a bit this time I'm afraid, but this is due to time constraints on my part. I'm being kicked out of work on the 29th and would like to get the last contest posted before then. :-)
Here we are in the closing stages of the contest series. Only two more maps to go and both should be a glorious festival of viscera.
This map should offer a multitude of routes and, with an easily accessible quad on hand and plenty of ammo, should be quite a quick level to complete.
And remember: Just because Joe and Timo are both exceptionally skilled players and currently at the top of their game doesn't mean that you shouldn't take part!!! Show us your skillz! ;-)
