Dimension of the Gibbed
Welcome to fourth part of a multi-part contest that'll send your bodyparts flying! The idea is to gib your way through the whole of Episode One - Dimension Of The Doomed in the fastest possible time. The finishing stats from the winner of the previous contest will be used as the starting stats of the current contest, the finishing stats from the winner of the current contest will be used as the starting stats for the next contest, and so on. Don't worry if that sounds a little confusing, all will become clear as time goes on. At the end of the series of competitions all the winning entries (and any cool bits from the other demos) will be recammed and joined together to form one big QdQ style production.

Only two entries this time, which was not totally unexpected as this was always going to be the longest and most frustrating run in the contest. But in the end it was Thomas Stubgaard who beat Arturo Garcia Lasca by a mere three tenths of a second. Congratulations to both of them for two very cool demos.
So Thomas goes on to join Joe and Timo in the final production which, I have to say, is starting to look pretty fucking good. (Although I'm obviously biased).
The rules of this contest are simple...
- You must complete e1m4 on Easy Skill getting 22/22 kills.
- Every kill must be a gibbed kill. If you don't understand what that means then check out this demo and all will become clear.
- The winner will be the person that exits in the fastest time.
- Two of the three secrets are entirely optional : you can use them or not as you see fit. However the secret exit secret is mandatory : you must leave the level via this exit.
- You must also ensure that you collect the grenade launcher that is next to the secret exit. Failure to collect this item will invalidate your entry. This is to try to ensure that we start the next contest with at least 5 rockets. That doesn't mean you HAVE to have at least five rockets. If you collect the GL earlier on and use them to get the kills and then return to the secret that's fine. Just so long as you collect it at some point.
- All demos should be e-mailed to Nolan ONLY!
- Please name your demos e1m4_gib_yourname.dem, any accompanying text file should be named e1m4_gib_yourname.txt and it should all be dzipped up into e1m4_gib_yourname.dz.
- You MUST start your run with the following statistics: 50 Health, 0 Armour, 79 Shells, 128 Nails, 2 Rockets, 0 Cells, the shotgun, the super shotgun, the nailgun and the grenade launcher. These can be set using QdQstats (which hopefully you're all using anyway), but if you don't know how to do it then this should help.
- If you have any questions send them to sda@planetquake.com, ask in #qdq on Quakenet or post your question on the Message Board.
The closing date for this contest is Midnight CET Sunday 3rd November 2002. The results and the details of the fifth part of the contest will be posted (hopefully) on Monday 4th November.
Another fairly large level with no quad so once again the contest will run for nearly two weeks. But by now you should all be masters (or mistresses) of counting your ammo to ensure you get the gibs. This time there are no "two annoying ogres at the end" but the two knights in the shooters room can be nearly as frustrating. :-)
Go kill!
