Back To Jail!
- The contest is being run on this map, JailBreak by Psycho. If it seems a little familiar to some of you it's because it's been used as a contest map before. The North American War Council (or so Skillz tell's us) ran a "first to the exit" contest back in early 1997 that was won in a time of 1:21 by QdQ legend Juha "Perkele" Kujala. In August 1998 we said that we'd add the map to the archive if anyone could beat Perkele's time, but since then no faster demo has ever been sent in. Given that the original contest took place seven and a half years ago and had a "no bunnyhop" rule I really think that some of you out there could beat this, hence we are re-running the contest.
- The contest will be fought on EASY SKILL (0), but for a little variety we might as well do an Easy 100% category as well as the Run.
- The Winner in each category will be the person who exits in the fastest time. For the Easy 100% you must get all kills and secrets as well.
- You must exit from within the flying vehicle thing. Don't even think about sending us demos that have you running straight to the exit trigger and jumping in. Not even as egg demos. (Unless you can do an egg demo faster than 0:05).
- Name your files in this format: jail_er/eh_yourname.dem, jail_er/eh_yourname.txt. For example, an easy run demo might be called jail_er_richard.dem
- All standard rules from the last series of contests apply.
- The deadline is Midnight CET, Sunday October 10th 2004.
- NOTE: The map in the download above is exactly the same as the original jailbrk.bsp that you might already have except that it's been vised for transparent water. There's not much water in the map but it can make getting the pent easier...
- Good luck and happy running!

- Well, not a staggeringly high turnout but then that was expected. In the end only three people could beat Perkele's seven year old time which shows just how amazingly good it was. Of those that could it was Connor Fitzgerald who took the gold, with Kay Berntsen snagging the silver and Mathias Thore sneaking in for the Bronze.
- We also saw the return of our old friend Marek Bartoszek and the debut of brand new "Runner In Training" Nathan "Zerg" Desdouits.

- Only two entries but both good, with Marek only just failing to take his first contest win when Ivan sent his entry in at the very last minute. :-)
- All demos from both disciplines, and a couple of optimum "cheap way" demos from Mandel are available here.
