Misery Loves Company
- The contest is being run on this map, Misery, otherwise known as No campers palace, die with honor! by Marc Roussel.
- The contest will be fought on EASY SKILL (0). We will be accepting entries for both Easy 100% and Easy Run
- The Winner in each category will be the person who exits in the fastest time. For the Easy 100% you must get all kills and secrets as well.
- Due to the open layout of the map there are many possible Easy 100% routes. For the Easy Run, however, there is one obvious, very fast, route so it will hopefully come down to extremely close decimals!
- Name your files in this format: mis_er/eh_yourname.dem, mis_er/eh_yourname.txt. For example, an Easy Run demo might be called mis_er_richard.dem
- All standard rules from the last series of contests apply apart from the email address. For this contest please send your demos to morfans and then the rest of the regular email address. Which is "speed demos archive" .com without the spaces or quotes. Jesus, the lengths we have to go to to avoid spam. Still, I'm sure your can all work it out from there and if there's a bot trawling these pages that can piece that back together then I will eat Nolan's old underpants in admiration.
- The deadline is Midnight CET, Sunday April 10th 2005.
- NOTE: The map in the download above is exactly the same as the original misery.bsp that you might already have except that it's been vised for transparent water.
- Good luck and happy running!

- An absolute trouser full of super-fast demos. A big thank-you to everyone that took part, and since so many of you made the effort I will personally gaurentee that there'll be another contest very soon.
- So who won? Fighting off some very stiff competition from Robert Maglic and Connor Fitzgerald the man with the most miserable bunnies was SDA staffer Mathias Thore! Nice one, Mandel.
- There were actually more routes than I thought there would be. The straight bunny route was fastest but the rocket launcher was also used by those that couldn't do the looooong jump, with both slope sliders and teleporters in evidence.
- As well as a host of well known faces we also had several first timers showing us their moves. A big welcome to Paul "LagDotCom" Davies, Spirit of 85, Julie Holm Nielsen and Cockroach.
- Finally, to prove that automation is not always the key, #qdq channel bot recordbot sent us a demo. Due to lacking any arms and fingers he had to control the player purely by script. A brave attempt from our first non-human player (Thomas Stubgaard excepted).

- The 100% was a run fraught with frustration but still a good load of you turned out to prove that now matter how tight, illogical and annoying the map, you guys are even more tight, illogical and annoying. Connor Fitzgerald proved that he was the tightest, most illogical and most annoying with a simply outstanding time that left Martin Selinus and Mathias Thore trailing in his wake.
- The rest of the contest was pretty close though with a lot of ingenious routing on disply. Good work, everyone.
