Your nickname (story behind it)?

The name's Nagasaki. It's taken from 3D Realms "Shadow Warrior". For the sake of political correctness, people simply call me Naga on the radio :)

Size of Quake directory on your HD?

1,05 Mb atm. I DZip'ed most parts of it up recently.

Your computer (processor/videocard etc.)?

The stats of the comp I last played Quake on: Celeron A 300 @ 450, Hercules GeForce 2 MX, 256 MB SD-RAM, Logitech Pilot Mouse, ~14 GB HDs, 15" Monitor Nowadays, I have a much faster machine, but it's not used to play Quake anymore :/

Quake settings (resolution, version etc.)?

Quake v1.08 @ 320*200, d_mipcap 20, d_mipscale 20 (that's what I like to play on) GLQuake v0.98 @ 512*384 (that's what I usually play on, because it's more stable)

First contact to speedrunning (when, how etc.)?

Must have been somewhen in 1998 when the first graphic accelerator cards hit the market. I remember about my attempts to finish Quake on Nightmare skill as fast as possible, when I learned about QdQ and such had to realize that I was way behind :) Later in '98 I found SDA and started downloading demos, and also practising my first moves. This resulted in an improvement to QdQr (see below), and thus my first contact to Stefan and Anthony, who recruited my for the team as co-ordinator for a new Nightmare Run later known as QdQwav (which was actually the working-title btw). Since then, I recorded my own speedrunning movie entitled Quake redone Quick and also ran a trickjumping site, Ill Mind Moves.

Damn, I believe there would be many great demos. Overall, I'd consider e1m4_013 w/YA and e4m5_009 from tRR the illest speeddemos ever made. But there always remain ways to raise the bar.

Well - let's say I like what Ilkka's doing with the hipnotic levels and Peter with the iD ones :)

Fiend Run Lite and DotG (although it's technically no QdQ release)

Favorite original Quake map?

e1m3 and e4m4 both play very well imo. e3m4 is a good map, too.

Favorite custom map?

I like rd1m4 a lot and of course the bbelief levels Attila and Ilkka both did a great job on their maps, too.

Most annoying monster/map?

Scragsz-sz-sz!!!!!!!! (ARgh)

Do you like Doom/Quake2/Q3A?

Of course! Doom was actually the first game I played on a LAN (or via direct link back then). There were also times when I was really into Quake 2 CTF and Rocket Arena, but I always preferred Quake 1 because of it's roughness :) Quake 3 Arena has great potential for tricks, and we all know that's what it's really about :)

What do you think of Quake now?

It feels a little bit like beeing married - once you've shared so many years, it's hard to imagine a life without each other, even though the days when she looked pretty are gone, and you did it in so many ways that there's simply nothing left that you haven't tried yet. Yet she'll never be replaced by another one.
