First contact to speedrunning (when, how etc.)?
I've been following Doom speedrunning since 1995, so when Quake came out in Summer 1996, I expected the Doom speedrunners to incorporate Quake. But that did not happen. In fact hardly anyone was doing Quake speeddemos (as you can see on the Demo Statistics page, only a total of 11 speedruns was done in 96). The future of Quake speedrunning didn't look too bright. So in February 1997 I had the idea to make a few demos by myself and upload them, just to show how easy it is. I thought this could maybe encourage others to beat my demos or make some new ones. Well, this didn't happen right away, but then in March 97 Yonatan made a run of episode one and asked Nolan and me if we'd like to cooperate to "create runs for the other episodes or maybe even the whole game"...

First speedrunning demo?
Favorite speedrunning demo(s) from yourself
(the one(s) that you're most proud of)?
I can't answer that from today's point of view, but I think the demo I was most proud of afterwards was my first, e1m5_026.

Favorite speedrunning demo(s) from others?
There are so many great demos that it's impossible for me to pick a favourite.

Favorite player (overall/runs/100%/marathon/coop)?
Runs: Markus, Ilkka
100%: Peter
Marathon: Marlo, Nolan
Favourite players from the old days: Yonatan, Perkele
Special credit to Justin for his incredible combination of quality
and quantity.

Favorite trick in a demo?
I find the super-fast bunny-hopping in e4m3 pretty impressive, but there are so many other great tricks...

Favorite QdQ release?
Favorite original Quake map?
Favorite custom map?
Hard to say, but I like the Mexx levels pretty much, although they are hardly suited for speed-running.

Most annoying monster/map?
Do you like Doom/Quake2/Q3A?
I like Doom very much and still follow Doom speedrunning. Q2 and Q3 are okay, but I have hardly played them.
