First contact to speedrunning (when, how etc.)?
I made some speed-runs for my private entertainment...
Then by chance I read about qdq_1949. I thought "20 minutes - no way."
But after seeing the demos I swallowed the bait. I contacted Anthony with some ideas and got on the mailing list... and there I am. My own speed-running skills are limited, so most of my contributions are technical in nature - like writing the script that generates these profiles :)

First speedrunning demo?
First public demo: prod2_85 on cdrom.com
First demo at NSD (Nolan's original site): end_035 NR
First demo at Gunnar's: e4m1_028 ER

Favorite speedrunning demo(s) from yourself (the one(s) that you're most proud of)?
e2m3_022 (made for QdQlite but Jan got the slot)
hdm1_021 (made for SdS but Simon beat me)
pse2_101, d207_023, and the coop stuff I did with Marlo & Fab

Favorite speedrunning demo(s) from others?
Doh... there are too many of them, really.
Just to name a few, Ilkka's h1m3_048, Peter's h1m2_022 from SdSlite, Perkele's e2m4_055 from QdQr, Yonatan's h3m1_057 from SdS, Fab's e1m1_054, and the whole-game marathons by Marlo and Nolan.

Favorite player (overall/runs/100%/marathon/coop)?
Runs: There are too many amazing people out there... if I had to name one, it would have to be Markus since he edges out the competition by a few tenths every time.
100%s: Nolan (always finds a good route), Marlo (as Nolan said, he's never heard the word caution)
Overall: Yonatan, Peter

Favorite trick in a demo?
Perkele's fiend push in e2m4
Peter's long jump in e2m2
The door-stopper fiend in e1m3
Yonatan's spike-mine jump in hip3m1 ("That was so cool, I made my dog watch it" - Daemion)
The air vent in hip1m3
The trigger_push trick in hip1m4
Robert's trick in coagula
Discharge in hipend
Zombie-gib jump in e3m3
Ilkka's double-fiend push in e1m4
Lots of others I could mention... and there are some very neat tricks in Q2dQ2 and UdQ, too.

Favorite QdQ release?
Scourge done Slick

Favorite original Quake map?
e2m5

Favorite custom map?
Shadow over Innsmouth (shadow)
Venom (p_se_3)
Bunker (zer1m7)
Moonlight Assault (moonlite)
Sacred Trinity (neh2m2)

Most annoying monster/map?

Do you like Doom/Quake2/Q3A?
Doom: Yes, absolutely. It's sort of complementary to Quake -
Doom is fast and furious, and it's probably the best DM game of all times.
Quake is slightly slower, but allows for more tricks and better and more varied levels.
If you haven't seen any Doom demos, you should definitely do so - try the NM runs through all of Doom2, or the HR and Plutonia collections.
I really don't know why most of the newer games make the players so slow...
Quake2 never really got my interest - making Q2dQ2 was very enjoyable though, I liked the strategic aspect of it and the variety of tricks.
Unreal is beautiful, a magical atmosphere - unfortunately its demo recording is screwed.
UT is the only newer DM game I like - the bots behave well, and the DOM and AS game modes rule.
Half-Life has a fantastic single player mission - quite different from Quake, but very very good. Unfortunately there are no shortcuts at all in the game :)

What do you think of Quake now?
It's simply a classic.

Quake Purity Test score? link
75

Anything else you want to add here?
I'd like to give a special mention to Anthony who not only brought me on board - some of the newer people may not realise it, but without him, Yonatan, and Nolan the Quake speed-running scene would never have gotten off the ground.
And another special mention goes to Speedcon: It was one of the coolest events in my life, and I hope we can repeat it!
